Terms of Use

These terms control use of Ector County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search feature means you accept every condition below. Discontinue use if you do not agree.

NO FCRA USE. Ector County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. Neither this website nor its advertising partners offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other Fair Credit Reporting Act use. The resource helps readers locate Ector County and Texas criminal-record channels. It is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no tie to a government office. It does not store official records, retrieve files, perform official checks, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its role is to identify the Ector County sheriff's ID&R division, court clerks, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Texas Public Sex Offender Registry, with links to outside research tools where relevant.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree to avoid each of these acts:

  • Violate a local, Texas, or federal law through website use
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use content for a hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to the website or its systems
  • Deploy scrapers, bots, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with site speed, availability, or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Content and linked tools may not be used to harass, stalk, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against anyone, and such conduct may be criminal. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 62 restricts misuse of Texas Public Sex Offender Registry data. Registry information supports safety awareness, not vigilantism or prohibited discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and create no credit report, background check, or consumer report. Neither the website nor its advertising partners are offered for regulated screening. You must not use content or a linked tool to:

  • Make an employment hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Set an insurance price or assess creditworthiness
  • Determine eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A regulated purpose requires an appropriate official Texas DPS process or an FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing here is legal advice. General Ector County record information cannot decide how a charge, conviction, warrant, expunction, or nondisclosure rule applies to one person. Consult a licensed Texas attorney.

6. No Warranties

Website content is supplied "as is." No warranty promises that:

  • Every detail is always complete, correct, or current
  • Service will remain available without an interruption
  • Pages contain no bug, error, or security weakness
  • An outside search partner will return a full or accurate result

Charges may be filed or dismissed, and records may be corrected, expunged, or made subject to nondisclosure. Updates create unavoidable gaps. No content here replaces an official statement from the court, sheriff, or agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can open Ector County offices, court portals, Texas agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Those destinations are independent. We do not control their content, fees, data handling, or availability, so review the destination's terms first.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Ector County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, distributing, modifying, or adapting them requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from website use or reliance on content found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from a claim or demand caused by your website use or breach of these terms, including related costs and legal fees.

11. Governing Law

Texas law governs these terms, and a related dispute must be filed in Texas. Government-record access remains subject where applicable to the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, and criminal-history dissemination limits in Government Code Chapter 411.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may change. A revised version takes effect when it is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Website access may be limited or ended at any time, for any reason, without prior warning.

14. Severability

If a court finds one term invalid or unenforceable, all other terms remain in force. The affected provision will be changed only as much as enforcement requires.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be sent through the Contact page.
